DISERTASI: The Implementation of Reputable School Management in Indonesia (A Case Study at Secondary High School of Al-Azhar Palu).

This research entitled The Implementation of Reputable School
Management in Indonesia (A Case Study at Secondary High School of Al-Azhar
Palu). This research aims at understanding the implementation of reputable
school management in Indonesia by taking research site at one of islamic
education institution, that is, Al-Azhar Junior High School in Palu, related to
education national standard.
This research using qualitative method by paedagogical and sociological
approach. The techniques used in collecting data are interview, observation and
documentation. Data source is taken by purposive and snowball method, they
are: headmasters, teachers, students, student parents, and members of parents
board.
The research shows that management implementation at reputable school
referring to education national standard at Al-Azhar Junior High School can make
its outcome compete with state school’s as well as others’ private school. The
headmaster and teachers expect to maintain discipline in instructional process.
The teachers and administrative staffs available are used maximally. The support
from parents with middle-class economy and above is the main strength in
facilitating media and infrastructure of the school. On the other hand, it is a
serious threat for the students with lower class economy, although they are
academically prestigious, because of incapability in paying high school fee. The
fulfilment of curricculum need suitable for local condition, the seriousness in
instructional process with professional teachers, the availability of media and
infrastructure, and the maximum financial management will bring about highcompetence graduates who can compete with other school’s, both in national and
international level. The social circumstance shows that the headmaster, teachers,
and administrative staffs work with high discipline. This is indicated by the high
grade got by average students and their high discipline. One hundred percent of
Al-Azhar Junior High School Palu graduates can enter senior high school and
have prestige at national level.
